When using our new Thetford Casette toilet I didn't set it up properly (no I didn't read the instructions properly) so unfortunately it leaked. It was quite a big clean up job! However even though I have cleaned all the effected area, there is still a very strong smell of urine in the cubicle. Any suggestions?

We have had leakage from 2 Thetford toilets which has required 2 being replaced with new ones, the only way to make sure the residual smell is removed is by taking the toilet out and cleaning inside the toilet compartment with a good disinfectant. They are not difficult to remove Thetfords web site has instruction booklets for most models that you can down load.

We had a leak from our thetford casette due to a valve or something like that breaking and it leaked all over the toilet cubicle. We cleaned all round the toilet but it still smelt, even when we had fixed it, so we decided to remove the casette from its housing and really cleaned that out.We also really cleaned out the housing itself as we thought thats where the urine may have got stuck. We replenished the fluid in the flush. Then we let it all dry and really cleaned the area around the toilet in the cubicle. When we put it all back together and flushed the odour had gone. Hope that sorts you out!
