I haven't ever done the transition from caravan to motorcaravan but I think it will depend on which van you eventually buy so could you hold on the the kit until you have selected a van before you sell it.

We didn't do what you're proposing but we have a VW camper and found that most of these on offer have pretty well everything provided within them - it does obviously depend on the converter. The only additional bits we needed (being new) was basically outside stuff like picnic table/chairs, additional two hob cooker so cooking outside in nice weather (we do Europe a lot so have found nice weather.... ;-) ), sun loungers.

Obviously space is at a premium in smaller vans so keep it to what is needed, but we've travelled up to six weeks at a time, staying all the time in the van as far as S Italy and Croatia and not needed any additional kit.

Good luck - the drivability and ease of use of a small van is great.

I think the previous answer is sound advice. When we switched from caravan to motorhome our new setup had on board water and waste tanks so we needed to keep hold of very little.
Try to narrow down exactly what you want to buy and check
a) does it have on board tanks - if so get rid of your storage containers
b) if not is there room for your wastehog etc as some smaller camper vans are limited for storage space - you may need to look at the Fiamma roll tanks which a smaller than wastehogs/aquarolls but fit very nicely in compact spaces.

We had a caravan 20 years back but reluctantly sold it due to under use because of work commitments. Now I am retired we have a Bessacarr E725 motorhome which we adore.

My advice would be hang on to everthing untill you have been away in the camper van a few times then decide for your self what you need to keep.

As others have said, do not get rid of anything at first, because you can be certain that some items will be needed. At a later date put the items on Gumtree or Preloved and sell at no cost to you, and you may then use the cash for a specific Motorhome item you will definitely need.
