Hi everyone.I am a 70yr old new member. We previously had 4 caravans,2 of them from new but are now in our 6th year of owning a Motorhome. The first was a Swift Suntor, the one we have had for the last 5yrs is an Avondale Seascape 5FBX with fixed bed which we find ideal for our needs. We have always gone to Scotland every year, having been all the way round the Scottish coast, and many of the islands incl.Inner and Outer Hebrides,Islay,Orkney, and Arran. We are planning to visit Shetland for the first time May/June this year ,so if anyone has any useful info.on the islands,or particularly on Motorhome touring there,we are going probably for a month, depending on weather,we would very grateful.
With a few years of touring Scotland ,particularly the West,I will be happy to try and answer questions from any first timers.
We particularly enjoy wildlife, remote landscapes, some walking, some photography and just exploring new places. For me some golf comes into the equation also.
Will let you know how we get on in Shetland, cheers,Angus and Gwen Race.Enjoy the summer!!!!!

Hi Angus,

How did you get on in Shetland? Interested to hear about your travels. I've spent a fair bit of time touring in Scotland in the past but never ventured to Shetland yet.

Hi Rob.Long ferry journey, try and avoid weekends when oil workers travelling.Book a cabin if finances allow,if not at least a reclining seat.Shetland different to Western Isles.Great for wild camping but also a good number of sites becoming available.OK for fuel and groceries, but only wife shopping(I don,t mean shopping for a wife) is LERWICKpretty much in the middle and therefore not readily accessiblePeople are FANTASTIC!!!!!!!Scenery good but not super fantastic like WI.Well worth a visit.
