Hello David we keep chickens as well but unfortunately we have a job getting anyone other than our son to look after them as they are located next to our bee hives. I was raised on a farm and we had 10,000 plus chickens. Average egg production was 5 eggs per week which we slightly exceed with our own hybrids; namely, Black Rocks, Calder Browns and Blue Haze. Hybrids are generally better layers and more resistant to disease but do not look as attarctive as some of the more exotic species.
