Whitby campsites

Whitby strikes an imposing stance which is immediately impressive with the gothic remains of Whitby Abbey set high on the cliffs above this much-loved seaside town. The atmospheric abbey ruins, a celebrated English Heritage site, inspired Bram Stoker when writing Dracula and catalogues thousands of years of the region's history. And it's not just the abbey that has visitors snapping away with their cameras; this traditional town has many iconic maritime features all set against the backdrop of beautiful blue-flag beaches and breath-taking cliff faces. These Whitby campsites provide excellent bases from which to explore the cobbled streets of Whitby town and the beautiful surrounding area, including the North Yorkshire Moors National Park which encircles the town..

For treasure hunters, the many shops of the old town will keep you occupied in your search for a holiday trinket and the selection of resturants and bistros specialising in sea-food will keep mouths watering. For family fun and a spook or two you could join a story-walker on a 'Dracula' and ghost walk around the historical haunts of the town or take a boat trip out into the bay to see the famous cliffs of the Yorkshire coast in all their glory.
