This is my first story so I thought I’d do one from my past….
Traveling twelve hours with a dozen of your closest relatives is not always a pleasant trip. Our family used to own a cottage on the Isle of Wight. Every year the grandparents would gather all of the grandchildren and three aunts to make the trip. In a minibus, all 13 of us were packed in like sardines. There were three stops along the way. The first was in the just south of Derby (as we had more family there). The next stop was not until South of Wales just north of Newport and the last stop was Bournemouth just before boarding the ferry over to the island.
Most of the children would sleep a good portion of the trip while the others would argue over whose pillow blanket the other was touching. Granted, the min-bus was rather large, but it also included our luggage, fishing tackle and non-perishables as well. Every year, even as we grew up we looked forward to packing inside this van and making the trip.
The reward was spending two weeks in a lovely place with no modern electronics or television and a view that many people do not get to experience. We didn't have iPods and portable DVD players then. It was just mostly Eye-Spy games, playing cards and jokes from Grandpa that kept us entertained. You don't have to have fancy gadgets in your camper, Caravan or Motorhome to make it a great experience. Creativity and memories are what make the best trips, even in the most cramped spaces. Traveling and holidays are times to reflect on the experience and the new memories it will create.
The map isn’t completely accurate but close enough!
