Campsites near Ditchling Beacon,

The third-highest point on the South Downs, Ditchling Beacon is a large chalk hill with a steep northern face, offering in the distant past a perfect natural defence from invaders, now covered with open grassland. Most importantly, it is the highest point in the county of East Sussex and, as such, provides commanding, magnificent views across the weald from the top of what was once an Iron Age hillfort. All kinds of sporting challenges incorporate Ditchling Beacon's steep climb into their itinerary but walking it at a leisurely pace is allowed too (!) and a picnic on the top, with lashings of lovely grub and a glass of something tasty is heartily recommended by the less virtuous. What a pinnacle to your UK camping holiday!

Managed by the National Trust and Sussex Wildlife Trust for chalk downland flower species like round-headed rampion, twayblade and fragrant orchid, the walk through this landscape is beautiful and the views across the rolling countryside breath-taking.
