Campsites near Glastonbury Tor, Somerset

Topped by Grand I listed St Michaels Tower, the hill at Glastonbury Tor is managed by the National trust and has been designated a scheduled monument. Rising from the Somerset levels, the hill was formed when surrounding softer materials were eroded, providing folk with a spectaular outlook and visual inspiration for thousands of years and campers and tourers and memorable day out for their UK camping album!

With evidence of human activity dating back to the Iron Age and Roman times and the remains of several holy buildings built in the centuries since then on the site, this Tor is a celebrated mecca for walkers, historians and mythologists alike. Evocative and iconic, with terraced sides, a walk to the top of this hill seem like a climb into the heavens, offording views of the Somerset levels, Dorset, Wiltshire and into Wales. Wow! This is an ideal location for landscape photography.
