Canyoning Lake District: Church Beck

Looking for that slice more adrenaline than usual? Church Beck, situated just outside of Coniston, provides an excellent half-day of canyoning Lake District style. What does that mean? Some of the locals call it ghyll scrambling. It means gorge scrambling along the natural passages cut through the landscape, psyching yourself up to leap off ledges, standing beneath the pummel of waterfalls, sliding through natural chutes carved out of the rock by thousands of years of water and a lot - a lot - of laughter and fun.

Why, you might ask? It's about commitment and challenge, about conquering your nerves, about pushing yourself beyond what you thought was your limit. Take a series of jumps into the canyon as you descend Church Beck; some of these jumps you'll abseil, others you'll just leap.
