Now owned by the National Trust of Scotland, this magnificent fortress is situated near Maybole on the Ayrshire coast and was once the home of the Marquess of Ailsa, the chief of Clan Kennedy. Perched on the cliff tops over looking the Firth of Clyde, the grounds of the castle are a delight - with forests and gardens providing hours of discovery for walkers and those interested in gardens. Within the castle walls lie many treasures, including famous paintings and important pieces of furniture; the architecture both without and inside is notable on many counts, not least the famous oval staircase engineered by Robert Adam during his conversion of the castle between 1777 and 1792.Culzean Camping Castle Camping .
