Oxford Camping

If you wish, Oxford camping can be a refined and somewhat romantic experience. Take a punt trip down the River Isis; climb one of the city's towers and drink in the view of this beautiful and intricate city; visit one of the 67 art galleries in the city and decide which work would look best hanging over your fireplace at home!

Of course, while staying on one of these Oxford campsites, you could take the 'film' tour of Oxford, following in the footsteps of characters from Downton Abbey, The Golden Compass, Harry Potter and, of course, the wonderful Inspector Morse. Can you spot all of the location settings? There are many on-foot or two-wheeled tours of the city, taking in the historic sites of Oxford Castle and the Oxford colleges.

Shopaholics love Oxford's independent boutiques and a trip from one of these campsites near Oxford to Bicester Village, where thousands of designer lines are sold at cut-prices, may well need to be organised (you are going to have to be very self-discplined!)

Camping Oxford style is a great family experience with opportunities to Go Ape, to visit the Cotswold Wildlife Park's big cats and to see twelve species of crocodile in a natural setting at Crocodiles of the World, all situated in the countryside surrounding the city.
