Cycling Holidays in the Lake District

Campers and caravanners have long since been hooked on the beauty and tranquillity of the Lake District. There is so much to inspire us in the picturesque landscapes, the carefully preserved historic buildings and the lasting traditions which still underpin life in the region. And, as those who return to the Lakes year on year can testify, there is so much to explore in the geography: the contrast of breathtaking lakes and wooded valleys with soaring mountains makes Lake District camping an uplifting experience. And there are few better ways to get about this breath-taking environment than by bike, perhaps using two wheels to sightsee in the area, or to undertake more serious road tours or even to take advantage of the excellent off-road challenges provided for mountain bikers and trail finders, like the fantastic mountain biking in Grizedale forest.

Road cyclists and mountain bikers are utterly spoilt for choice in the Lake District where every hill climb is likely to be rewarded by jaw-dropping views and where gentle valley trails are bordered by mirror-like lake reflections.

Here we have identified touring grounds and campsites in the Lake Disrict nearby Whinlatter Forest, Grizedale Forest and Lazonby, three of the top areas for cycle camping in The Lakes.
