Unsurprisingly, campsites in Devon are already great favourites with campers and caravanners for UK camping holidays. At the heart of South Devon lies Kingsbridge, a bustling traditional market town set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The surroundings of this historic community are quintessentially Devonshire: rolling hill, lush vegetation and set on the banks of a picturesque estuary. Kingsbridge benefits from Devon's laid back, tranquil approach to life providing relaxation, arts and culture for its inhabitants and visitors alike. Sailing and other watersports are popular pastimes with the proximity to the estuary. But this area is also a foodie heaven . From farmers' markets, to vineyards, fresh fish restaurants to traditional tea and sumptious cakes... you'll have to balance the gastric delights with some of the activities that the area has to offer... One of these is walking and hiking: ideal for dog friendly holidays . The area offers fabulous routes for walkers of all abilities. As well as the footpaths and coastal paths in this area, there are a number of great dog friendly beaches to ensure that days out as a full family can be easily achieved, even in high season. There will be no need for anyone to sit in the dunes with the dog on a lead next to the 'dog restrictions' sign on these beaches. Campsites near Kingsbridge On this page you will find details of campsites near Kingsbridge with easy access to these dog friendly beaches.Soar Mill Cove Beach : Set below the craggy Bolt Head, this is a tiny remote sandy inlet which you will need to access on foot via the South West Coastal Path (either that or from the Soar Mill Cove Hotel - slightly easier!) Salcombe North Sands Beach: This rural, unspoilt beach is set close to Salcombe amenities, although you wouldn't think it when you're there. It is set between two headlands in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Don't visit at high tide - the beach is completely covered, although this does mean that it is very clean, refreshed as it is twice a day by the tide!East Portlemouth Beaches: This is a long sandy beach stretching round the coast from East Portlemouth almost to the open sea. Set opposite Salcombe and in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) this beach is a lot quiter than those next to salcombe. You can either travel to east portlemouth itself or take the ferry from salcombe to reach its lovely sand - ideal for sandcatsles and traditional family beach fun. You could visit the Venus Cafe for great local food.Beesands: Beautiful Beesands! Here you will find yourself surrounded by wildlife on a long stretch of pebble beach. Walking from this beach is fantastic - you can pick your distance and walk to Startpoint and Hallsands one way or to Slapton Sands and Torcross the other. A pub in the village "The Cricket Inn" is handy for food.Mill Bay Beach: South of East Portlemouth beach is Mill Bay, a privately owned beach popular with families because of the very safe and clean bathing conditions, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The rock pools here are great. At low tide there are a wealth of rock pools to explore. There is some limited parking or you could take the ferry from Salcombe.
