Swanage campsites

Swanage in Purbeck is a traditional Victorian seaside town, clustered on the coast of a sheltered bay, enjoying the 'blue flag' beaches at Swanage and Studland and bordered by the celebrated Dorset countryside: perfect for great family sea-side holidays. The Isle of Purbeck (actually a peninsula) provides that 'island feel' that holiday makers crave: a sense of being able to get away from it all without having to get on a plane or travel for hours. These Swanage campsites provide fabulous bases from which to explore this beautiful region with its gentle liveliness, traditional beach-based fun and great access to huge tracts of nature reserve to the north and south of the town.

Come to Swanage for the views - stretching across the big blue to the Isle of Wight and beyond. Come for the coastal walking where you are never more than a few steps from sea-vistas that take your breath away. Come to walk in the footsteps of the dinnosaurs that once roamed this area and explore the fossil-packed cliffs of the Jurassic Coast. Or just base yourself in the town and enjoy the restored pier, the traditional amusement arcades, the steam railway, the boat trips and the gently shelving, fabulous sandy beach. Whether you are looking for a pitch on one of the Swanage caravan parks or the back-to-basics camping Swanage has to offer, you'll find your ideal base on these pages.

If you're feeling a little more energetic why not make one of these campsites in Swanage the base for a great watersports holiday, taking advantage of the crystal clear water of this stretch of coast? You could stay a week and try your hands and feet at a new sport every day: sailing, windsurfing, surfing, stand up paddleboarding, kite-surfing, jet-skiing or just get dragged around shrieking and laughing on an inflatable.
