Campsites near Foxfield Railway, Staffordshire

For those looking to foray into the history of the relationship between coal mining and the railway in the Midlands region, we have created this listing of campsites near Foxfield Railway in Staffordshire. originally built in 1892-93 the Foxfield railway provided a link from the local colliery to the national railway network. It's an unusual stretch of track, with little or no earth works, resulting in some really steep gradients, some of the most extreme in the UK.

Foxfield Railway as it stands now offers a lot more than a lump of coal to its visitors! At particular times of the year you can indulge in a 'steam and cream' tour, enjoying a cream tea during the scenic journey. There's a licensed bar on board these special trains, so if a scone doesn't do it for you, you can sup a glass of wine or partake of an ale instead! At Foxfield station there is a small museum and a chance to ride the miniature steam railway running for 0.25 miles on purpose-built track on site.
