Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps in Cornwall has been officially accredited with Dark Sky Discovery Status, which means that it is away from the worst of any local light pollution, has clear sightlines to the sky and provides good access for those who wish to see the stars. Ideal for a spot of combined Bedruthan Steps Camping and star-gazing! Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps have also been recognised as a 'Milky Way' Site, as the skies here are so dark at night that the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye - seriously exciting stuff, which (warning coming) may leave excitable children and adults in a state not wholly conducive to sleep for some time afterwards! The camp sites listed here will place you closeby the car park at Bedruthan Steps, from where a short walk will deliver you to some of the most breath-taking cliffs and sky views in the UK. By day Bedruthan Steps beach delivers everything that visitors expect of the North Cornwall coastline: custard-yellow smooth sands, rocky, cliff-edged inlets and dynamic surf. Access to the beach isn't easy - down a steep narrow set of steps cut into the cliff - and you'll have to get your tide times right, as the sand is only accessible at low tide. But, of course, as with all things in life, the difficulties of reaching this more remote type of beach are far outweighed by the benefits provided by its remote nature. There is a National Trust car park at the tops of the cliffs and a cafe, from which you can enjoy fantastic views along the coast...and this isn't a bad spot from which to do your night-sky gazing after dark either. Read on for the camping Bedruthan Steps and Carnewas has to offer...Camping near Bedruthan Steps Beach These campsites will place you within easy reach of Bedruthan Steps and its glorious beach...your pitch here will also see you settled under one of the least polluted skies in the UK. So, after sun-kissed days on the beach rockpooling and swimming and after glorious treks along the coastal path, you can lie back (wrapped in a warm blanket!) with your binoculars and ogle at the wonders of the universe. What better way could there possibly be to end a day's camping? Find your ideal Bedruthan Steps campsite by looking closely at the details of each site listed here - they all offer a unique experience of this much-loved pocket of Cornwall.
