Ambleside Camping

This unique and ultimately relaxing town, set in a lake-side, mountain location is really special. Ambleside will tickle your tastebuds with the good food prepared and dished up in the many local eateries, all washed down with a jar (or two!) of local ale or beer to complement. These Ambleside campsites will place you within easy reach of the bustle of this town's picturesque streets lined with Victorian stone buildings, many housing independent shops.

The rich layered history of this town is well worth delving into, from the Romans to the Vikings, through to the more recent patronage of Wordsworth, Ruskin and Beatrix Potter: visit the Armitt Museum to find out more or take the 'Ambleside Heritage Trail' guiding you through the most interesting aspects of the town before returning back to the tranquility of one of these campsites in Ambleside.

For local tradition, visit at the start of July and experience the ancient Rushbearing Festival, dating back to the days when the church floor was covered with rushes to keep it clean and warm for worshippers. Camping Ambleside is a truly unique experience, allowing you to get beneath the skin of this special town, using it as a base to explore the glorious Lake District.
