St Ives Camping

A penisular on a peninsular, beautiful St Ives is unforgettable and, once you've visited, you'll have to be very strict with yourself not to book a holiday here each year! Why? Well, for one the coastal scenery is stunning, with azure blue sea surrounding the pretty town seemingly on every side. Another reason people return is for the rich artistic heritage of the area; it is said to be the quality of natural light in this area which attracted artists and sculptors from across the country; their works are now celebrated in the Tate St Ives gallery. The inspiration of these nineteenth and early twentieth century giants now seems to pervade the very fabric of the town, with art galleries and art shops a plenty in the narrow, cobbled streets arcing the harbour. Porthmeor Beach is popular with surfers and boogie boarders; its Blue Flag status should reassure families who want to let their kids explore the sand and rockpools and paddle in the waves. Porthminster Beach is another great sheltered, family-friendly beach with safe bathing from its crescent sands; this is the best spot for fabulous views across St Ives Bay. Porthgwidden beach, the smallest of the town's beaches is a favoured sun trap, facing east and nestled next to the island.
