Farne Islands, Northumberland

These Seahouses camping options will place you a stone's throw from the boat trips that embark from the village to the nearby wildlife haven of the Farne Islands. This cluster of islands are a firm favourite of scuba divers exploring life beneath the surface and of birders for the fabulous opportunities to watch birds thriving in their environment. With unrivalled access to the 23 species of bird that are born and bred on the islands, including over 35,000 pairs of the characterful and comedic puffin, these islands are a great favourite for spotters and photographers alike, all searching out the famous Farne Islands birds. Of course there are also over a hundred species of 'birds of passage', visiting the islands during migration, providing the element of nervous anticipation - what will we see - that makes a birding trip exciting!

If you want to feel overwhelmed, delightfully bombarded and deliciously outnumbered then head to the Farne Islands at the height of the breeding season, when up to 150,000 birds cram onto every cliff edge of the islands.
