If you like to indugle in tales of the paranormal, Bamburgh Castle is reputedly one of the most haunted places in the UK, with visitors to the castle reporting ghostly experiences across the centuries....of being touched by unseen hands, or hearing babies cry, pianos playing and of hearing footsteps running backwards and forwards along the Castle's many corridors. The most famous of Bamburgh's ghosts is that the 'The Pink Lady', allegedly the ghost of a beautiful Northumbrian princess who lived in the castle whose heart was broken when her father sent her lover away to separate the youngsters.

And, after you have scared yourself silly with the ghosts and marvelled at the castle's magnificence, head down to the shore and enjoy the miles of white-sand beaches running between Bamburgh and neighbouring villages. Visit the harbour at Seahouses and savour the local kipper - a local delicasy - at the small fishing village of Craster, before heading back to one of the sites for camping Bamburgh has to offer.
