Forest of Dean Camping

Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, making it an enriching place to base yourself for a camping or touring holiday. This area borders England and south Wales across the counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire, offering all manner of high octane activities set in this breath-taking environment, with more than 110 square kilometers of mixed woodland, one of the surviving ancient woodlands in England. Extreme mountain-biking and boarding, scuba diving at the National Diving and Activity Centre, Go-Ape, Segway, caving, rock climbing, abseiling and canoeing down the River Wye: for the active-minded family or group, Forest of Dean camping will keep you feeling challenged! This really is an ideal region for active camping UK experiences!

For a more peaceful (!) stay you might want to consider the bird-watching (a visit to RSPB Nagshead might be in order and Peregrine Falcoms can be spotted at Symonds Yat!) and wild-life watching in the forest or take a bush-craft survival course run by one of the local providers. Take your camera and hone your photography skills and walk the many wonderful forest trails and cross-country routes in this area. Camping in the Forest of Dean really does has something to offer everyone, even if you have lots of different interests to please on your holiday!
